The Beams Plus story begins in 1976 when a small group of young men from Tokyo traveled to California to experience the gilded lifestyle they saw on American TV and film. They returned with bags full of products and opened a tiny shop in Harajuku, styled to look like a UCLA dorm room. It was here that the Beams store was born, and in two decades it became one of the most influential tastemakers of fashion, music, and design. By this time, the Beams shop carried many important international brands, so the private label Beams Plus clothing line was established to protect their love of classic Americana. Today, Beams Plus clothes are designed in-house and stocked by independent retailers like Meadow in 14 countries around the world.
